Personal Professional Philosophy Statement
I feel that every child is unique, in terms of life experiences, developmental readiness, and culture. I also believe, it is important to provide a safe and nurturing environment, which promotes health and physical, social-emotional, language and communication and cognitive development. I aim to incorporate this belief in my teaching career.
Early childhood education provides an enormous potential for growth and achievement. I truly believe, a young child who is nurtured to reach for his or her educational goals from an early age, will continue to pursue educational goals throughout their lives. I believe in providing developmentally appropriate curriculum and environment for young children. Different ages have different needs, interests, and developmental tasks. I aim to provide a effective early childhood environment that fosters creative expression, social and emotional interaction, child-adult communication, child-child communication, physical expression, risk-taking, and personal independence. Early childhood learning happens through play. I believe that play is essential and should be fun, exciting, spontaneous, hands-on, comforting and challenging. I aim to provide opportunities for children to discover, explore, create, investigate, solve problems and express ideas with others. I believe children are capable and resourceful. I will encourage and support children to find and explore their own interests. I will encourage children to make their own decisions and choices and to be active problem solvers. I believe in nurture, as it is critical for children to develop lifelong respectful, inquisitive and positive attitudes.
I have learned that an early childhood teacher immensely impacts the learning experience of the young children entrusted in his or her learning environment. I want to make learning experiences positive. I want to help, in my own little way, to make learning easy and fun. As I reflected on my time in a early childhood environment and how I grew and learned as a young child, I realized that much of what I experienced in school and at home influenced how I would develop later and into the person I am today. My personal philosophy of Early Childhood Education now is based on scientific research that strongly support my beliefs. As an early childhood teacher, I strive to provide creative and developmentally appropriate experiences that will forever impact the lives of the young children in my care.
